Pumpkin Carving

Our annual Halloween tradition-carving pumpkins with my family. Alex had a lot of fun this year. She was even more into it than last year. She liked sticking her hand down into the pumpkin and pulling out the seeds. She tried to use the knife to carve but needed a little help. She kept saying "This is too hard". We let her choose how she wanted to make the face. She very quickly decided she wanted circle eyes, a diamond nose, and a mouth with 2 teeth. It ended up looking kind of like a bunny but without the ears till we were done. It turned out very cute!

Bee Sting

I normally post all the fun things our family is doing but this time I decided to dedicate a post to a not-so-enjoyable experience Alex had recently. Last week Justin had the day off so he and Alex decided to go to the park. While they were playing, Alex ended up getting stung by a bee right below her eye. She cried, of course, and daddy consoled her. Within a few minutes she was right back to playing. But as Justin kept looking at her get more and more red and swollen, he decided maybe they should head for home. He called the doctor to find out what to give her and then took her to Jammy's house while he ran to the store for children's benedryl. It looked pretty nasty but within a day or two, it was pretty much gone. Poor thing-now when we go to the park to play she always asks "The bee's not gonna sting me??"

Fall Activities

Last Saturday my mom and I took Alex into Benders for their fall open house. Alex always loves going in there with her Jammy to see the animals (the bunny rabbits are her favorite) so we figured she would enjoy the fall activities as well. It was really nice-she was able to run through the hay maze, pick a pumpkin from the patch, dig through the hay to find a gourd, and see all the animals. She also got a free coloring page and an apple. Of course, when she got inside and saw the painted pumpkins she had to have them so we ended up buying 2 little ones for her to sit on the shelf in her bedroom. She had a blast!
