Busy Weekend

This weekend was a busy one. We had a baby shower for my sister-in-law Susan on Saturday and a Super Bowl party at Jen and Drue's house on Sunday. In the midst of our planned events for the weekend, we got dumped on with about 20 inches of snow between Friday and Saturday. Regardless of the snowstorm, our planned weekend events went on.

The baby shower was a success even though many family and friends were unable to make it in because of the snowstorm. We had to have the ladies (who were able to get there) bring their husbands so we had more people to help eat all the food. Susan had no idea until Saturday afternoon when Rob had to explain to her why they were venturing out in the snowstorm. We had a really nice time despite the small crowd. They got lots of nice things and had a nice time visiting with everyone celebrating the upcoming arrival of Baby Adrienne.
By Sunday evening the roads were pretty clear, so thankfully we were still able to go to Jen and Drue's for our Super Bowl party. As always, we had way too much food. We keep saying we're going to cut back on the amount of food we bring when we get together yet it never seems to actually happen. We had soup in bread bowls, a cheese ball, dips, fruit salad, chips, macaroni and cheese, and 3 desserts! It was a great time as always-we had fun eating way too much and enjoying good company during the game. The kiddos had fun together as usual. Mattson was quite the character in his pirate costume that he insisted on wearing all evening. As the evening went on Alex was getting sleepy so needless to say she had to keep herself awake somehow-she entertained us by dancing and singing to every commercial that had music.

On Saturday after the baby shower, we took Alex out in the snow. It was so deep that it came up to her waist. She didn't care-she had a blast anyway. She was determined to walk through it and she did however, she could only take 2-3 steps before falling. She discovered too that she likes to eat snow so she was content to plop herself down and eat the snow off her mittens.
